WWP Wildcats Cheer 2022
REGISTRATION FOR THE FALL 2022 SEASON WILL BE OPENING IN MAY!
GENERAL INFORMATION
WWP Wildcats Cheer is a challenging and exciting program for ages 5.5-13 which focuses on hard work, team bonding, learning, sportsmanship, spirit, discipline and, most importantly: FUN! Cheer is one of the only sports where every player on the squad has an important role to play and is critical to the team's success, no matter their size, experience or ability. It never ceases to amaze the parents when you see what they accomplish by the end of the season!
The Cheer Program is essentially made up into two types of squads: Competition and Exhibition (non-competition). 8-13 year olds are eligible for Competition teams, but only 9 and under can be on Exhibition teams. There are 2 different age bracketed-categories within Exhibition (Flag, Mitey-Mite) and 3 within Competition (Jr. PeeWee, PeeWee, Jr. Varsity). Your child's ultimate team category and level will depend on age, skill level, experience and the needs of the program. We typically do not field a team at every category/level every year and teams will range in size from 6-20 players.
Competition teams spend the fall perfecting an amazing 2.5-minute choreographed dance, stunt and tumbling routine with the ultimate goal of making to Nationals. In the last 10 years, Wildcats have made it to Nationals in Florida SIX TIMES!!! Competition teams should expect to practice at least 3 days per week and perform at least twice, possibly up to five times in the season, which runs from August 9 through (possibly!) December 10. Registration fee includes the cost of these competitions and practice gym space as well as socks, a practice tee shirt and a bow.
Exhibition teams learn cheers as well as one 2-minute choreographed dance routine. They will "compete" in the Pop Warner Central Jersey Competition in mid-October with the older players. This is the only competition that Exhibition teams attend. They practice 2-3 days per week and the season runs from August 24 through October 30. Registration fee includes socks, a practice tee shirt and a bow.
There are many fun activities throughout the season!
